Heritage Academy Families,
We hope that this email finds you and your family healthy, safe and doing well. As we are approaching the end of the 2019-2020 school year, we wanted to give you some updates and thank you for a great year.
Here are some points to remember and reflect on:
Reminder that this week is the last week of new coursework in Google Classroom (with the exception of Dual Enrollment courses, those will continue through the end of the year). May 7th will be the last day of new instruction for the school year.
The final two weeks of school will give scholars time to complete any missing assignments and catch up on work from the quarter. If scholars are pleased with their grades starting on May 11th, then they will not need to complete any additional work at that time. Those last two weeks will simply be to help scholars’ grades and missing assignments.
Here are a few dates to be aware of:
Monday, May 11th – Teacher gradebooks will be up to date by 5:00PM
Thursday, May 21 – All scholar books, uniforms, and school materials return – All scholars need to return all sports uniforms, textbooks, and other school materials at the school between 10-11 AM or 5:30-6:30 PM. We will have a have a drive-thru set up for scholars to drop off any materials. Any materials not returned will result in fees being placed on accounts.
Thursday, May 21st – Virtual Awards Ceremonies – Recorded Videos will be sent to families to allow scholars to watch the award ceremonies. We will also post on our social media. While the entire ceremony will be pre-recorded, families and scholars will be able to pick up awards and certificates at Heritage Academy the first week of school.
We can’t thank you enough for being part of our very unusual inaugural year! We have been so impressed with our families who have stepped up and helped us make this year a success! Your scholars have been great to work with. We look forward to an amazing year next year ON campus all year (hopefully)!
Sincerely,
Kimberly Ellsworth

WONDERING HOW TO RETURN YOUR MUSICAL INSTRUMENT???
If you are planning on being in band/orchestra again next year, DO NOT return your instrument. Keep it so you can play it over the summer and maintain your skills.
If you are not planning on continuing with band/orchestra next year, you can return your instrument to the store from which you are renting it after you finish all assignments for this class. Please do not return any instruments to the school as none of your instruments are rented from the school!

IT’S TAX TIME
LET THE ARIZONA TAX CREDIT FOR PUBLIC SCHOOLS WORK FOR YOU!
How does it work?
If you qualify for this state tax credit, you may donate online to make a contribution. When you file your Arizona state taxes, you then subtract the amount of your contribution from what you owe or add the amount to your refund.
An individual can contribute and receive a tax credit for any amount up to $200, or a couple filing jointly may contribute up to $400.
- If you owe $800 in Arizona state taxes: Make a $400 contribution to Heritage Academy, and subtract $400 from your Arizona state taxes. Your tax bill will then be $400.
- If you are expecting an $800 refund on your Arizona state taxes: Make a $400 contribution to Heritage Academy, and add $400 to your Arizona state tax refund. Your refund will be $1,200.
- Funds can be applied to directly to your scholar’s course fees, tours, or a specific department such as drama, history, orchestra, etc.

Great News! As of today, Central Arizona College (CAC) has gone live with the signup link for Promise for the Future pledge form.
Click here www.centralaz.edu/promise to sign-up for Promise Today!
The signup period for 8th graders will be from April 1, 2020 through August 1, 2020, providing ample time for students and families to get online and complete their Promise pledge form.
As you are aware, the presentations for Promise that were previously scheduled at Heritage Academy – Maricopa Campus has been cancelled, due to the current social distancing requirements for COVID-19. CAC is actively working on scheduling several virtual online presentations, as well as developing a short video that walks both students and parents through the online signup process for Promise.
As a reminder:
- Student enrollment into the program does not hold any student accountable for future enrollment at Central Arizona College, it is meant to provide every student affordable access to higher educational opportunities.
- All requirements of the program are to be fulfilled by high school graduation.
- When enrolling into the program please be prepared to use a mailing address as well as personal email account.
- Questions please email: promise@centralaz.edu<mailto:promise@centralaz.edu>
As we continue to develop new processes for this year’s Promise for the Future enrollment, Heritage Academy and CAC will share that information with parents and scholars as it comes available. The team here at Heritage Academy – Maricopa Campus and Central Arizona College highly value each of you and we appreciate your assistance during this new process.
Thank you and stay safe out there!
