At Heritage Academy Maricopa, we have always believed that the arts are not just an extracurricular activity—they are a vital pillar of a classical education. For years, our talented scholars have showcased their dedication in our gymnasiums and under the stars in our courtyard. While those performances held a certain “magic,” as Principal Jenny Titus often says, we knew our scholars deserved a home that matched the caliber of their talent.
On March 27, 2026, that dream finally took center stage.
We were honored to welcome city officials, community partners, and our Heritage families to the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony of our brand-new, 56,000-square-foot Performing Arts Center.
A Journey of Vision and Perseverance
The path to this moment began back in 2019. As CEO Jared Taylor shared during the ceremony, this auditorium was always part of our original vision for the campus. However, as with many great endeavors, we had to wait for the right timing and meet specific growth milestones to make it a reality.
Thanks to the incredible support of the Maricopa community and the hard work of Willmeng Construction—who remarkably finished the project two months ahead of schedule—the “long-awaited” is finally here.
State-of-the-Art Facilities for our Scholars
This isn’t just a building; it’s a hub for creativity and collaboration. The new center features:
-
Advanced AV Systems and Specialty Seating: Ensuring every performance sounds and looks professional.
-
A Full Catwalk and Stage Curtains: Giving our technical theater students a true “behind-the-scenes” professional environment.
-
Dedicated Classrooms: Custom spaces specifically designed for our choir and ballet programs to flourish.
A Night to Remember
The evening began with the elegant sounds of a string quartet playing “Canon in D,” greeting guests as they entered the facility during a beautiful Maricopa sunset. After the ceremonial ribbon was cut, the true stars of the evening—our scholars—took over.
Attendees were treated to a breathtaking preview of our theater department’s production of Big Fish the Musical. Seeing our students perform on a professional stage for the first time brought tears to many eyes and a sense of immense pride to our administration. Even Mayor Nancy Smith noted the “phenomenal talent” of our scholars, suggesting the facility is such an asset to the city that it might even host a future “State of the City” address!
Looking Forward
As we move into this new chapter, we want to thank you—our parents, scholars, and neighbors—for your patience and belief in our mission. We are grateful to be part of a community that values the arts and the development of the “whole student.”
We can’t wait to see you in the front row for our upcoming concerts, plays, and dance recitals. The lights are on, the curtain is up, and the future of the arts at Heritage Academy Maricopa has never looked brighter!
