Our Mission Statement
Heritage Academy is dedicated to youth, their growth and development. The purpose of education is to build strong character. Strong character is reflected in strong families, strong communities and a strong nation.
While teaching the academic disciplines, Heritage Academy is dedicated to instilling into the minds and hearts of today’s youth a knowledge of and respect for the ideals and values of the great men and women of history, including those who founded the American nation.
As today’s rising generation gains an appreciation of these people of accomplishment, they will be ready to provide the selfless service to their fellow citizens and to their country which will be required in the coming years to assist in preserving America’s greatness. Heritage Academy exists to this end.

We are making great progress collecting signatures to bring a new Heritage Academy Elementary campus to Maricopa! We have collected 500 signatures and are halfway to our goal of 1,000.

NJHS Scholar needs your help:
Heritage Scholar Elena Holguin is part of NJHS and is doing a service project. It will be a drive for the Blavin Scholars, a program for kids who are too old for foster care. It will be going on from February 6th- 16th.
Wow! We have been able to collect 188 boxes total now of tissues for the school! NJHS would like to thank all the parents that have donated. This is where we stand…

Heritage Academy Maricopa has formed a Trap and Skeet Club and we’re looking for scholars grades 9 through 12 to join our team! Whether you’re a seasoned trap and skeet athlete or a beginner, we welcome you to come and learn the sport of trap, skeet, sporting clays, and 5-stand in a safe and responsible environment.
Scholars will learn a new skill they can enjoy for a lifetime, make lasting friendships, and compete against scholars from other high schools’ teams across the nation.

Mr. Hettinger introduced his World History Class to Imperialism by playing a game of speed Risk!
Our Harmonics Choir, under the direction of Mr. Bunker, is in Flagstaff today and tomorrow to attend the NAU Jazz/Madrigal Festival. They will sing for, and work with, a college professor and receive a rating for their performance as well as feedback that will help them reach new heights. They will also attend a concert put on by the NAU Shrine of Ages choir.
Many of our choir students were also able to audition for regionals. This experience helped them grow in their musical knowledge and ability, as well as broadened their view and appreciation for what we do in choir. We had 4 scholars make the honor choir and one alternate! Congratulations to Tyler Trimmer, Tanner Webster, Christian Morgan, Abigal O’Barr, and Moshe Evans!
On a windy Friday, Mr. Ellsworth is getting those scholars ready for Les Misérables!
DRIVELINE REMINDER!
PLEASE remember that 0ur driveline is being monitored closely this year. No one can park on the street outside of our campus before the driveline. Parents must park in our “cell phone lot” until our gates are open at 3:15. Our city and our neighbors need your cooperation.

BANNER AND A TROPHY!
Last Saturday our Maricopa Heroes defended their title, bringing home their second state championship banner for the school! It was a day of high drama with astounding victories and incredible upsets. All of the schools wrestled amazingly. Our squad walked away with nearly a 70 point lead over the second place school. ***FLAG FOOTBALL****
The JH Flag football team beat Red Rock 59 to 39 this past week. Shout out to the entire team! They all played very well together to bring home the win.
***JH GIRLS BASKETBALL****
Our Maricopa Heroes won at home against Legacy Northwest Tucson 30-8. Raniya Sims had 10 points, Hailey Peralta had 6 points and Riley Reiss had 4 points. They won again against Legacy Casa Grande. The girls SMASHED the boards winning 42-2!!! Raniya Sims and Amaya Blakes led in scoring. Riley Reiss had 6 points, Bella Macedo had 5 and Emily Sibley added 4 points. The girls had 28 steals and 21 rebounds! Nice job ladies.

SCHOLARS SHOULD NOT BE SIGNED OUT BETWEEN 2:30-3:30 PM
Need to schedule an appointment for your scholar during school hours? We ask that you try and schedule appointments on Fridays when the scholars are out of school. We know this isn’t always possible due to days and hours of operation, however due to our driveline, we are not able to sign scholars out after 2:30 pm. If you have an appointment for your scholar, we will need you to pick them up before 2:30 pm or wait until school is out to pick up your scholar.

Purple Passion
In encouraging my students to find their passion in life, I ask questions such as “What brings your greatest joy?” “What are sources of your greatest triumphs? Greatest disappointments?” For Heritage Academy Maricopa junior Chloe Adams, all of these questions can be answered with three words: PHOENIX SUNS BASKETBALL!
Chloe’s passion for purple is evident through her writing in my class. For a major assignment she analyzed a postgame interview of a Suns player, and when I asked scholars to fill out an index card listing in order the top 3 things they love to talk about, Chloe had the Phoenix Suns as number one . . . and two . . . and three!
Answering The Call
Chloe’s love for the Suns has led to a love of the sport of basketball and of sports in general. So, it was not a shock one afternoon in my 3B class when Chloe entered and excitedly exclaimed, “I think I have found my calling. I know what I want to do in life. I want to be a sports broadcaster.” This fateful moment just happened to coincide with the need for our boys’ varsity basketball team to find a team manager for the upcoming season. As the assistant coach for the varsity boys, I had an idea. Inspired by Chloe’s basketball enthusiasm, and her newfound calling to be a broadcaster, I decided to reimagine the team manager position as something in line with her passion. The Video & Media Coordinator position was born. Chloe was offered and accepted the position.
Impact Player
Chloe, along with her friend Jadyn Infiesto, creates and edits videos for the team and individual players. The individual player videos are called cutups, and it is here that her talent, creativity, and passion are on full display. According to sophomore team captain Jaden Hill, “Chloe puts a lot of effort into what she does, and most of it goes underappreciated. She is not in any of the videos; only we are. We constantly get the self-gratification of seeing our amazing plays, but she is satisfied simply being behind the scenes. She is dedicated to attending all our games, making the videos, and posting the footage on our team site. And she does it all with a constant smile!”
Future Dream = Present Reality
In her current position on the team, I wanted Chloe to fulfill her desire of being a broadcaster not only as a future dream but as a present reality. I encouraged her to do more than simply make and post videos of games. Chloe has done that by conducting halftime and postgame interviews with players and coaches. In the future she plans on releasing a play-by-play broadcast of one of her full-length recorded games.
Chloe Adams did not have to wait to do what she loves in life; she is doing it right now.
For Chloe, the dream of being a broadcaster is not in the future – it is in the present. In answering the call (of her yearning to be a part of basketball as a career) she is now making the call (doing the actual work of a broadcaster). She is living her passion. And if her “constant smile” is any indication, she is loving every minute of it!
-Chloe Adams is a junior at Heritage Academy Maricopa. When she is not watching and cheering on her Suns, or making videos, she enjoys playing golf and spending time alone. She is currently taking my dual enrollment English class where she is conducting college-level research on the moral ramifications of international human trade.
-Jadyn Infiesto is a junior at Heritage Academy Maricopa. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, including playing golf with Chloe. She is currently taking my dual enrollment English class where she is conducting college-level research on the importance of teaching Pearl Harbor in middle school and high school.
-John Hill is a dual enrollment English teacher at Heritage Academy Maricopa. He is proud to call Chloe and Jadyn two of his own.

To create your account go to MySchoolBucks.com and follow these instructions:
- Click “Sign Up Free”
- Follow the step by step instructions to add our school and your scholars to your account. Our district is Heritage Academy Inc.
- Click on “School Store” on the top menu bar for a list of options.
- If you click on “Store Home” it will take you to where you can purchase items like a parking permit, pay your PTO dues, or rent your choir robes.
- If you click on “School Invoices” this is where your current course fees and end of year school balances from last year will be listed. You will be able to make a payment right through this system!

HERE ARE A FEW REMINDERS:
- Change your scholars grade level under your profile.
- Communicate with your scholar if you ordered lunch for them so they know to pick it up.
- If a lunch is ordered and not picked up during lunch time, it will be donated.
- If your scholar is absent, cancel the order or contact the front office if you want it saved by 10:00 am, otherwise it will be donated.
- If you want a friend to pick up your lunch, it must be communicated to the front office by 10:00 am so the records can be updated.
DRESS CODE REMINDERS
Khaki pants need to be cream, beige, or khaki in color (according to the chart below). The colors that are crossed out in red are not approved.
