On 19 April 2021 Governor Ducey removed the requirement for facial coverings at schools. This decision will now be left to the local schools. Each Principal will communicate the changes for our schools. While facial covering may or may not be required at your campus, Heritage will continue to provide other mitigation strategies such as: washing hands with soap and warm water; using hand sanitizer; cleaning and maintaining health facilities; and staying home when sick.
Heritage Academy Maricopa will welcome students back to campus on September 9th, for in-person learning. Will things look different? Yes, they will. However, what is not changing is the Heritage Academy spirit and the entire community's dedication to continuity of learning.
We acknowledge that there may be COVID-19 outbreaks in AZ locally, regionally, or statewide that will require schools to close. We anticipate that we might have to toggle between in-class learning and distance learning, and to that end, our planning started before the last school year ended.
Our faculty quickly developed innovative teaching skills in the distance learning environment this past spring. Each one of our faculty members, to become even more proficient and effective in the distance learning environment, will continue to receive additional training training throughout the year.
Will things change between now and when school opens? Possibly, but with a solid reopen plan as our foundation, we will pivot and adjust as needed.
