FINALS WEEK IS 12/16 through 12/19!
Parents, make sure your scholars are prepared to stay in school until 12/19. All scholars are required to take their final exams for each class during finals week. There will not be a test make-up after break, so if your scholar misses their final during this week, they will receive a zero.
1. Review your study notes.
Use the night before for simple revision. Don’t look at anything new, review the study notes you have created during your study sessions over the past few days.
Work your way through your notes, covering topics one by one to ensure you understand the material. If you don’t, go back and find clarity.
Late night cram sessions aren’t a very effective way to study. It may seem like you’re making the most of your time by studying until the last minute, but by not giving your brain a chance to rest you’ll have a harder time remembering the information you studied.
4. Eat a good healthy dinner.
Giving your mind the brain power it needs is important if you want to do well on your test. That means eating a good meal the night before.
Gather all the materials you’ll need for your test the next day. Make sure you have extra pens, pencils, erasers, and any tools you need (like a ruler or calculator). Pack everything into your backpack THE NIGHT BEFORE.
After spending time reviewing for your test, get some exercise by going outside for a short walk or a bike ride. Getting a little bit of exercise will help reduce any stress you are feeling and recharge your brain.
Take some time before bed to put away your study notes and relax. Read a book, write in a journal, or talk to your family. PUT DOWN THE ELECTRONICS. This will help you wind down before bed, making it easier to get a good night’s sleep.
One of the most important things the night before a test is to get a full night’s sleep so your brain can remember what you’ve studied. Make sure you go to bed at a decent time so you can wake up on test day feeling refreshed and well-rested.
Set your alarm so you don’t oversleep the morning of your test. DO NOT BE TARDY. Give yourself some extra time in the morning to eat a healthy breakfast and get ready for the day without feeling rushed.

Gratitude Is A Gift
Last week Mr. Hill’s Citizenship class put our November theme of gratitude into practice with a special project to thank our military troops. Heather Blakely, from Operation Support Military Heroes, visited the class to guide students in crafting thoughtful and heartfelt thank you cards and Christmas cards for active service members. The scholars wrote kind and encouraging messages, expressing their appreciation for the sacrifices made by military members. “I appreciate the positive thoughts from the students,” said Mrs. Blakely. “They wrote some kind and encouraging words on the cards that I will share with the troop.” As Mrs. Blakely told the scholars, “Your kind words of gratitude make a big difference to someone stationed overseas.” As Mr. Hill explained, “Gratitude is about expressing how you feel to someone else. It is a gift that feels good both to receive and to give. We have been learning in Citizenship class how important it is to express gratitude and extend it to others.” Scholar Brendan Thomas summed it up saying, “Writing the cards made us feel good.” Receiving the cards will be a gift to the troops this holiday season, but writing the cards was just as great of a gift to the scholars who produced them.

Dear Heritage Academy Maricopa Parents & Scholars,
Second-semester schedules are visible in PowerSchool. Please review your scholar’s schedule, if your scholar’s schedule looks good. No need to read on.
If your scholar is in need of a schedule change for the second-semester, do not email me. I will not be replying to emails about schedule changes. Follow the process outlined below.
The process for a schedule change request:
- You or your scholar may complete the schedule request form at the following link: HA Maricopa 2nd Sem 2024-2025 Schedule Change Request Form.
- I will review the request and if approved I will let you and your scholar know. The change will also be visible in PowerSchool.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT A SCHEDULE CHANGE REQUEST IS NOT A GUARANTEE THAT A SCHEDULE CHANGE WILL BE GRANTED. Many classes are full, and schedule changes will be dependent primarily on current class size or availability, and administration approval. A schedule change will only be considered for the following reasons:
- Class of 2025 Senior missing a required course
Missing a course in your schedule (there’s a blank spot in your schedule) - Incorrect class placement (i.e. placed in College Mathematics instead of General Math)
- If you feel that your reason for requesting a schedule change conforms to one of the reasons listed above, please go ahead and complete this form.
Parents and scholars have until Monday, November 18th, to request a schedule change. Your request will be evaluated and if it is determined that a schedule change is possible, your scholar will be called to the office during school to discuss options, or an email will be sent after the change has been made. If the requested schedule change is not possible, you will receive an email notification.
Thank you,
Heritage Academy Maricopa Administration

Dear Heritage Academy families,
We’re going to France in March 2026, and all current 8th through 11 graders are invited! We will be exploring Paris and Southern France, including the French Riviera. This is open to all those that will be enrolled in high school at a Heritage Academy campus in the year 2026. Those enrolled in French language classes are especially encouraged to participate, however it is not a requirement for the experience.
We’re excited to tell you more about the trip we’re planning with EF Tours, our educational travel partner. Please be sure to register for this info session to be considered for this opportunity: https://bit.ly/3zgsdNF
When students travel, they expand their knowledge of the world around them, discover more about themselves, and grow more confident. These skills are critical for creating the global citizens of tomorrow, and we would love to have your student join us on this adventure.
In this info session, we’ll talk about:
- How this opportunity will benefit your student
- What we’ll see and do on our trip (itinerary)
- Everything that’s included in this experience
- How your child can earn academic credit
- How we’re keeping this safe and affordable (overall cost)
- How to enroll on this trip (before it fills up!) during EF’s risk-free enrollment period
There are limited spots on this trip, so we would love to have you attend this meeting to learn more about this exciting opportunity!
Thanks,
Joseph Arnold
